Lubricant Ash-free Antioxidant and EP-AW additive

Lubricant Ash-free Antioxidant (AO) and Extreme Pressure-Antiwear (EP-AW) additive are two separate types of additives used in lubricants to enhance their performance and longevity.

1. Ash-free Antioxidant (AO):
An ash-free antioxidant is a chemical additive that helps prevent oxidation and degradation of the lubricant. It works by inhibiting the formation of harmful free radicals that can cause the lubricant to break down and lose its effectiveness. This additive helps to extend the service life of the lubricant and maintain its performance even under high temperatures and oxidative conditions.

2. EP-AW Additive:
An Extreme Pressure-Antiwear (EP-AW) additive is used to provide additional protection to lubricated surfaces under high-pressure and high-load conditions. It forms a protective film on the metal surfaces, reducing friction and wear. This additive is particularly effective in applications where metal-to-metal contact occurs, such as in gears, bearings, and other heavily loaded machinery.

In some lubricant formulations, both the ash-free antioxidant and EP-AW additives may be present to provide a comprehensive protection package. These additives work synergistically to enhance the lubricant's performance and ensure optimal efficiency and durability of the lubricated components.
